More on First Run at the Castro

This is a follow-up to an earlier post, Indiana Jones and the First Running at the Castro. I’m assuming you’ve read that one.

A PR representative was kind enough to get back to me on Monday with more information about this seeming change in policy:

We had a substantial opening in our programming at the point where Indiana Jones was made available to us, and we wanted to slightly expand our repertoire in hopefully drawing in larger audiences beyond those people that attend our retrospectives and film festivals….it by no means indicates that we are veering away from our core customers, and our classic film fare…
At this point, we are not intending to run any commercial first run films until we are throught with our Indian Jones commitment, and then we will assess the public’s response to same.
We will still pursue art/indie films as they are offered to us by distributors.
