Bayflicks.net Privacy and Advertising Policy

Bayflicks.net values your privacy, which is why we sell it for such a high price.

Just kidding. Here’s the reality:

Bayflicks.net does not require a log-in, does not use cookies, and does not track users in any way. I have statistics on how many people visit the site on any given day, and which pages they visit, but I have no way of knowing who those people are, or if they’re repeat visitors.

Depending on its security settings, your web browser may tell you that the site has potentially dangerous Javascript programs. Relax; they’re harmless. I use short and simple Javascripts to pop up windows with movie information, and for email links–a security precaution that keeps my e-mail address out of the hands of spammers. It does nothing to your computer except display a mailto link that, as far as html is concerned, isn’t there.

If you sign up for the Bayflicks.net newsletter, I will get your e-mail address. I’m sorry, but I can’t send the newsletter to you without it. But nothing short of a government subpoena will get me to share that list with anyone. Nor will I use it for anything other than my newsletters, although it’s possible that I may one day include advertising in the newsletter.

Which brings us to the subject of advertising. At this point, there is no advertising on Bayflicks.net. The movie theaters listed do not pay me for their listings, and my intention is that they never will. I consider the listings, and the blog, as editorial content that must remain free of commercial considerations. Advertisements have no effect on what I list or recommend.

At some point in the future, I may sell advertising space on the site and newsletter, or, more likely, contract someone else to sell the space for me. When that time comes, I will make every effort to maintain my editorial integrity.

I cannot promise, however, that I will never allow a future advertiser to use tracking cookies or a similar technology on my site. Should that day come, I will change this privacy statement accordingly.
