No Duck Amuck in the Sonoma program, but the film was mentioned from the stage by Linda Jones Clough when there were some technical difficulties with the start of the program. Picture was appearing without sound, much like one of the gags afflicting Daffy in that film.

Duck Amuck is probably my favorite Chuck Jones film too, but I don't think it's mandatory for every tribute to a filmmaker who has made hundreds of films to include it. There were eight shorts shown, and though the theme of "dream vs. reality" was perhaps overrepresented (through Water Water Every Hare, Wearing of the Grin and Rocket Bye Baby) in relation to his career, it included a nice mix of stars (In addition to Bugs, Daffy, Elmer & Porky, we saw Road Runner & Pepe in Ready, Set, Zoom and The Cat's Bah respectively) & starless films (like the Dot and the Line and Rocket-By Baby.)

PS Marnie is undoubtedly one of Hitchcock's greatest films.

The historical TE Lawrence was a Classical scholar with a strong background in Greek and Latin studies who had been working for sometime in the Orient when the Great War commenced. Sometime after the events of that war, TE decided to write his own translation of Homer's "The Odyssey".

Odysseus and Colonel Lawrence were both classic anti-heroes, which makes Lawrence's retelling of this story all the more interesting. It's a very accessible read (far less difficult that the "Seven Pillars of Wisdom").

Actually after AMC opened Regal spent a lot of money putting stadium seating in and improved it from a less-than-good experience in ll areas.

They don't do much business unless they get a big movie so it is pretty easy to have the seat of your choice, especially useful for 3D movies (Though Grand Lake should be your first choice for 3D as they use two projectors to provide twice as bright a picture). And they now regularly play Bollywood movies. A lot closer than Fremont but not as much fun.

After "Pulp Fiction", I stopped going to Tarantino's movies. I don't often talk about principle, but that's why: his films appeal to the worst in the viewer- glorify it, in fact- in a kind of smarmy, "watch what I can get away with", adolescent way, that leaves me feeling ashamed that I've watched it. It actually worries me that his films are so popular. It says nothing good about our national consciousness and, by extension, seems to explain a lot of what's wrong with us.
